THE GRETSCH

The guitar has had the tuning pegs replaced, although quite a good job has been done in doing so.  It plays well, and has that great 'Gretsch' sound

There is a 'damper' for the strings, although the rubber has perished and would need replaced in the unlikely event that it was to be used

Some of the knobs are not original

Chet Atkins Gretsch

FOR SALE

This instrument was bought in or around 1963 in Lisburn and was originally played by the first owner (Tom McGrath) in various guitar groups during the Showband era

It was sold during the 1970's to a friend of mine (Willis Aiken) who subsequently sold it to me in or around the 1980's

I gave a sum of money and a Levin Goliath accoustic guitar in exchange

It has been used during the Showband re-union dances during the 1990's

I am told that this guitar is part of a batch issued in 1963 and is a rare model in that it does NOT have the Gretsch ‘G’ motif on the headstock
